Mother's Day is just around the corner and I have the most awesome Mother In Law ever! I try to make something special for her every year. Last year it was the light house. This year it is the Hydrangea Tray from Dreaming Tree. I used the kit just exactly as it was pictured but let me share just a few things.
I cut all the flowers from Whisper White card stock. Thirty to a page. Once they were cut I pulled off the outline and left the flowers stuck to the cutting mat and used a sponge dauber to ink the flowers. Then I pulled them up, turned them over and stuck them back down to ink the back sides. Once both sides were inked I pulled them off and used the sponge daubers again to ink the edges in a darker color. I also added a touch of shimmer with the Wink of Stella clear shimmer from Stampin' Up!
I cut the leaves from Mossy Meadow and inked the edges of the leaves with the same color ink, again using a sponge dauber.
The designer papers came from the same stack I used for the light houses which was DCWV Ocean Breeze stack. The flower design was perfect for this project and I loved that it had just a little bit of silver bling mixed in.
A couple of things that are good to know. I used green styrofoam balls for the flowers and they weren't really dense enough to hold the push pins in place so my flowers are quite fragile. I would recommend the Floral Foam spheres as they are more dense and would hold the pins better.
Also, I discovered that you need to be extremely careful to line up all the seams on the tray really well or it just won't come together as well as you might like it to.
All in all it was a fun project and I would make it again.
