A year or so ago I fell in love with the Seaside kit from SVGCuts.
It is such a great kit and the lighthouse is what caught my eye. My mother in law collects light houses so I made this for her for Mother's day a year ago.
Pretty cool huh? The base was not part of the kit I made that and the anchor using other files. You can see more details on this version on my blog.
This week I revisited the lighthouse, I needed some centerpieces for my Soroptimist club meeting coming up in May. The lighthouse itself is still from Seaside kit by SVGCuts. But I made the base a little different. See below for dimensions of the pieces I resized.
I wanted my lighthouses to have a nautical look to them and I used the DCWV Ocean Breeze Paper Stack purchased at JoAnn Fabric. I used a 50% off coupon and got the stack for $10.00. What was so cool about these designer papers is that they were heavier, more like light weight cardstock that paper so they were super easy to work with and held up to being glued really well.
The shapes I used from the Silhouette On Line Store are:
- Wave Border item#10210 by Sarah Bailey
- Anchor On A Chain item#30396 by Sarah Bailey
- 3D Round Clover Box item#79992 by Jamie Cripps
The cardstock I used from Stampin' Up!
- Whisper White for the basic base of the lighthouse
- Pacific Point and Marina Mist for the waves
- Basic Gray for the frame of the base
- Night of Navy for the window frames
- Real Red for the lighthouse top
- Vellum for the windows
- Corrugated paper (white)
Other Papers I Used:
- DCMW Ocean Breeze Stack
For the base I resized the image making the circle 7". I resized the edging separately because I needed it to be deeper than it would have come out otherwise so I made the edging 11.692 x 1.737. I didn't make the bottom of the box only the top. I cut these pieces from Basic Gray cardstock. I then cut a duplicate circle from the Pacific Point card stock so that the base had a blue look. The anchor I resized to 2.775 tall x 2.553 wide and the links 1.512 tall x .601 wide. The tabs on the links are folded over and glued around each other.
For the waves I resized them and used the Edit Points feature to adjust the curves at the ends so they blended better when wrapped around the base. Two pieces of each size in different colors really made this part really awesome.
Of course tealights can be placed in the top and the base to make it light up and it looks totally awesome. Hope you have enjoyed stopping by. Leave me a comment I love to hear from you.
