Yes! You read right! The 2017 Holiday catalog is here and it is chuck full of wonderful products including a bunch of wonderful "bundles"!
I have made my preorder and can't wait to find time to begin creating all kinds of projects with the items I've chosen.
For those of you who follow me I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and I am also a Silhouette Electronic Cutter owner as well and I often incorporate the use of both in my projects. I love Stampin' Up! products and I use their papers, inks, stamps, dies, embossing folders almost exclusively.
I thought I would share what happens in my craft room when a new catalog pre-order arrives. It is quite a process but I like to get it all done before I put things away on the shelves.
I'll start with the stamp sets.
- Step One: Use my label maker to make labels for the spines of the stamp sets. I don't know about you but I can't read those tiny words on the stamp set spines and the pictures don't do me any good either so I print a large print name tag for the spine of each set and with the name I add a code for what catalog it came from so for the holiday catalog I would follow the name with HC17. Then even when a set gets held over I know when it originally came from.
Of course if there are any that are clear mount I punch out and mount the image on them so they are ready to go.
-
Step Two: I make copies of the image on the front of each stamp set to put into my stamp set catalog where I keep pictures of all the stamp sets I own. This takes a while to get going if you haven't done it but I've done it for so long that it's easy to add new sets. What I like about this system is I can pull my catalog off the shelf and flip through it and find just the right stamp for any project I'm working on. It's just a regular three ring binder with page sleeves so I can slide the picture into the sleeve. Two stamp sets fit on one 8.5x11 sheet. After the copies are made I make notes on the image for instance, if the set has a coordinating die set or punch I mark that on the image so I know at first glance if there are dies for that set.
- Step Three: I put a white mailing label sticker on the back of the stamp case and if it has a coordinating die set or punch I write that on the label so when I pull the stamp set off the shelf I know if it has a die set that goes with it.
- Step Four: I put the catalog number , price and page number on the back label as well so that when customers ask at a workshop it's easy to give them the information. Often they know it will be there and nothing makes me happier than to see them using it to fill in their order forms.
Ahhh! I'm done with stamp sets. They can be put away on the shelf. I keep them in alphabetical order on a book shelf easy to find and to get to.
Tune it tomrrow for Part Two of Organizing My Pre-Order.
Bye for now,
Kate
