I needed to make some thank you cards for my mother in law. She wanted soft blues and purples or lavender. I wanted the card to be simple yet elegant and the overall color to be white.
I found this image by Sophie Gallo called Thank You Floral Card, #63293 in the Silhouette Store.
I liked the oval center of the card but not the size of the card, it's designed to be 5 x 6.5. I like to stay with the standard A2 size card.
So the first thing I did was use right click and select the "release compound path" option.
As you can see this separated all the parts of the image. I carefully selected the card outline and deleted it and then the dash lines and deleted them. This left the oval center that I wanted. To use it I selected all of the image and "grouped" it. Now it would be easy to move and resize.
Next, since I was planning to cut this from vellum and use it as an overlay on the front of the card I used the scale tool to create a 5.25 x 4 rectangle with rounded corners, re-sized the oval to 4 x 3.352, selected both the rectangle and the oval and used the align to "align center".
I use Stampin' Up! Vellum card stock. I like the weight of it. To cut it I used blade 4, thickness 33 and double cut. The vellum is letter size so I set it up landscape and put four overlays to the page.
I used the brush end of my discontinued alcohol markers from Stampin' Up! For this I used the medium hue of Night of Navy. and colored the back side of the vellum.
To attach the overlay to the front of the card I used Tombow vellum adhesive tape across the top and the two bottom corners. Sometimes some of the letters would stick up a bit so I used my paper piercing tool and put a dab of glue behind the a and the h to help them stay in place. I liked the end result. The variations in the coloring just add to the ambiance of the card.
I wanted a little something on the inside of the card and on the envelopes too to make everything coordinate. I used the floral image from the "Bloomin' Love" stamp set from Stampin' Up!. It matched really well. To match the color of the vellum I stamped off the color once before stamping on the card and envelope flap.
The envelopes are white, this picture just came out funny. Anyway, I hope you like the card and finding out how I made it.
