Tea Bag Holder Favor

I like to make things to share and our church is hosting a ladies retreat in February so I offered to make a treat bag for each of the ladies. One item I will put in the bag are some specialty teas so I wanted to make a cute little holder for them. The theme is Abide In My Love meaning Christ's love of course so I wanted to have a heart on it somewhere and I'll use the same image throughout the other parts I make.

I couldn't find a holder like I was thinking of so I designed my own and this is what I came up with.

It's designed to hold the Bigelow Constant Comment individually wrapped tea bags. It came out really cute and is super easy to make since I have the cut files and print and cut images all set out in my Silhouette.

The heart with the cross is "Cross Your Heart" image #79268 by Sophie Gallo and the tea cup is from "4 Tea Cup Silhouettes" image 9702 by Samantha Walker. The font is French Script.

Because I made this design myself I can share it with you. I can't include the graphics but I will include the base to put the graphics on so you'll have the right sizes.

Ink Holder For Silhouette Mint Ink

Remember the Sketch Pen Holder designed by Jamie Cripps and found in the Silhouette Store item #46244? Well, I made two of those and still use them to hold the sketch pens I have left. I probably won't need them after I use up the pens I have because with the new pen holder I can use different kinds of pens in an even wider variety of colors and metalics.

But now there is something else I want to have readily accessible and that is the inks for my new Silhouette Mint stamp maker. I immediately thought of Jamie's sketch pen holder but I wasn't able to adapt it to what I needed. The Mint ink bottles are larger in circumference and a little bit shorter. So, I just sat down and created my own box. Similar to that of the one Jamie made with two pieces that fit inside each other and holes in the top for the ink containers to sit in.

My box is .75 inches deep by 6.75 long by 3.25 wide when assembled. The holes for the ink bottles are .91 circumference and there are 10 of them. I will size the DSP mats .625 wide by 3.25 inches for the ends and 6.8 for the sides. These will sit nicely on the left side of my desk top.

One thing to note is that the caps are all gray so it is hard to tell what color each bottle is. With my box only 3/4" deep a small ring of the color can be seen but I also made labels for the caps

I did my best to color each label close to the color of the ink. I used the white sticker paper from the Silhouette America shop. Time will tell if it stays stuck or not.

Repurposed Decanter Stopper

My husband and I like to re-purpose things. Make something new and beautiful out of items others would normally throw away. My husband works with metal so most of his items are done with that medium like this Kokopelli Sun he made.

The edge is a the rim from a wooden spoke wagon wheel we dug up in our yard. The wood spokes had rotted away leaving the rim. The sun was cut from the worn out pad on a commercial concrete finishing tool. These are quite large round flat circles of metal so we could cut the sun and the Kokopelli all from one piece. It resides in my garden in the back yard and I just love it.

Recently I was checking out yard sales to see what kinds of treasures I could find to re-purpose when I came across this stopper from a glass decanter.

Just to pretty to pass up for only .50 cents I bought it.

A little later I found four mirror coasters with beveled edges for only $1.00 so I grabbed the up too.

On the way home I was admiring my finds and an idea came into my head. Why not make a tealight holder with the mirror in the back the stopper in the front and a tealight in between. I had a lovely block of wood I'd saved so then it was just a matter of figuring out how to mount the pieces.

This is where help from dear hubby came in. He helped me cut the holes for the various pieces.

So you can see the stopper fit in the front slot, the tealight in the center and the corner of the mirror fit in the slot in the back and when it is all put together this is what you get.
