Good morning Stampin' Up! friends.  I have a card to share with you today that is 100% Stampin' Up!.  Now, that doesn't mean I don't use my Silhouette but it does mean that you don't have to.  This card can be completed with tools and stamps from Stampin' Up!

We'll be making this at my next class on Monday, May 12th at 3pm.  I hope you can make it.  There will be another card to make that will also be 100% Stampin' Up! but I haven't designed it yet. BWG  It will be a surprise.

This card uses the following:

  • Perfect Plum, Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder and Garden Green card stock
  • Little Leaves Sizzlet
  • Petite Petals stamp set
  • Petite Petals punch
  • Fancy Frames embossing folder
  • Brayer

I used the Brayer to emboss the frame on the card front because when I ran it through the Big Shot it left edges where I didn't want them.  So I just pressed the design into the card with my brayer instead.  It didn't come out as deeply embossed as it would have with the Big Shot but it shows enough to look nice.

No More Hand Cutting! Use Your Silhouette Digital Cutter!

Mother's Day is just around the corner so I thought I'd better get busy and make a couple of cards for the mother's in my life.  I only have two to make one for my mother in law and one for my daughter in law.   

I was looking through the posts on my facebook page the other day and someone asked about a template for a Diamond Fold card.  I shared a card made using this fold just a short time ago and mentioned I would be making another more tuned in to the current season and seeing the facebook inquiry motivated me to get busy.

First I went into my Silhouette and created a template for the card and the mats and saved it.  Then I went back to facebook and sent the template file and a tutorial for the diamond fold card to the person who made the inquiry.

Finally I returned to my Silhouette and made the following card.

The center sentiment is difficult to see.  I sketched it with silver on white.  Here is a close up so you can see it better.

Now, you may think I had to hand cut those lovely Hydrangea flowers out by hand but I did not!  I made a cut file from the image in the Silhouette.  The center circle image is an enlarged version of one of the circles from Petite Pennant Builder Die.

Edgetown - A Lovely place to visit!

For the holidays I made a paper ledge village using the designs from Silhouette by Marji Roy.  She designed 17 different buildings with trees and other things.  She calls them "Ledge Village" and if you type in the word "ledge" into your search they will come up.  The cool thing about these little buildings is they are only about 3/4" deep so they fit on a ledge or sill, hence the name.  

Well, I like my village so much I didn't take it down but dusting forced me to move it and clean so I moved it to the ledge above the door in my rec room.  In that room I can sit and look up at it from my easy chair and I really like it.

I wish I was a better photographer so I could capture this better.  The detail on the buildings is so amazing with windows and doors that really open.  There is a flag pole and even some laundry hanging on the line and blowing in the breeze.

I didn't make any changes to her design, I liked it in plain white but it might be fun to do the houses in some different colors and create a colorful village.  The trees could be green too!

Busy, Busy, Busy but there's still time for this

I am happy to say I've joined a design team Silhouette Challenges and I'm having a blast making things for the regular posts that we do each month and for the extras we do as well.  Like the hop that's coming up on May 3rd and 4th.  I hope you'll stay tuned and check out all of the wonderful submissions it's going to be a great time of "Springspiration" as the theme is May Blossoms.

In the meantime I wanted to show you something I made in between the design work I've been doing.  

This is a 100% Stampin' Up! card.  No special cutting with the Silhouette.

Modern Mosaic

Here is what I used to make this project:

  • Modern Mosaic embossing folder
  • Mosaic punch
  • Mosaic Madness stamp set
  • Brayer
  • Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantelope card stock
  • Bermuda Bay, Crisp Cantelope ink pads
  • Sponge Daubers
  • Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Rhinestones

Using the brayer to ink the folder and create the background was fun.  It takes a bit of practice learning to brayer it lightly enough that it only inks the surface but it was worth the effort.

 My grandsons ages 3 and 4&1/2 came to visit for a few days last week and I always try to come up with something fun to do with them when they are here.  It occured to me they might like flying kites so we grabbed up a couple of kites and headed for the park.  There was a perfect wind blowing and it was fun to get the kites up and see them flying up high in the sky.
 
That was my inspiration for the card I made for the Faux Stitching Feature challenge.

The Sunburst I made my own design because I couldn't find one exactly like I wanted.

Spring Has Sprung - Subway Art

Today is the day!  I am participating in a hop with 40 other Silhouette users and we are sharing all things SPRING with you!  There is a clickable collage at the bottom of the page that will take you to some really awesome project ideas for Spring.

Now on to my project:

I had so much fun making this project!  I've been wanting to create something like subway art but never really got to it until the Silhouette Facebook Challenge Blog Hop.  That was enough to motivate me to get busy on it.  Once I got started I couldn't stop until it was done.  It takes a while to come up with a design and implement it but it was worth the time.  I have a dear friend who had a birthday April 1st and this became her gift from me. 

I used an 8 x 10 work surface to begin because I wanted this to fit into a standard picture frame.  Next I added the words using the text tool and filled them with colors.  Here is a list of the words and the fonts for each:

  • Bloom - Amaze
  • Sunshine - Aharoni

  • Spring - ARHerman
  • Rain - Gaze
  • Green Grass - Massey Wide
  • Beautiful - Ariel

Spring Has Sprung - Subway Art L

Once I had the words placed where I wanted them I printed onto the Whisper White Cardstock.  Then I used the adhesive backed card stock from Silhouette America for the added embelishments and the last word.  A few of these added to the picture gave it more character and depth.   

I was thinking it might be fun to make another one of these for each season.  What do you think?

I Know It's Not Christmas - But. ..

I know it's not Christmas but I was cleaning out some of my files the other day and came across this card I made for Christmas two or three years ago.  It was really striking card and I think I'll make one with a spring or summer look to it.  But until then I thought I'd share this one with you.

I've shared the right and left side views with you as well.  This card took some time to make but it was worth the effort.   I made a tutorial for making this card and I'm happy to share it with anyone who leaves me a comment below.  

This particular card is 100% Stampin' Up! no Silhouette needed to make it.  As a matter of fact the base of the card is best made by just cutting 12x12 card stock on your table top cutter.  However, when it comes to the panels and the embellishments the sky is the limit and I plan to use my Silhouette when I make the next one.

Daffodil Flower Favors - 3D

I'm taking this one down to the wire.  Do you ever have those times when you've got a project to do and you keep waiting for inspiration and nothing comes so you just keep putting it off.  Well, that's what I've been doing.  I needed a favor for my Soroptimist meeting next Tuesday and nothing had really caught my eye until today.  I got an email from Pinterest sharing things I might be interested in and someone had pinned a cute little daffodil favor from Martha Stewart.  So I went to her site and downloaded the flower template and then brought that into my Cameo.   The Martha Stewart version used miniature muffin cups to complete the project which is really cute but I didn't have any and no where to get them quickly enough so I used the Easter Soiree flower egg/cupcake wrapper image #39680 by Amy Robison.  I removed the cutout and then used the point edit tool to make the top edge zig zagged so it looked a little more like the flower center and I had to add some tabs to the bottom edge so I could add a circle center.   It's a little rough but I think it still looks very cute.

Now all that's left to do is fill them with a few Jelly Belly Beans!  Yum!

A Bird In The Hand?

Nothing says spring to me more than the return of the birds to my yard.  The Finches, Black Capped Chickadees, Hummingbirds, Swallows.  The cacophony of song they make is actually very soothing as I relax in my backyard oasis.  So, when the Silhouette America Blog posted a challenge to make something for Spring I decided to make a card with a birdhouse on it.    Birdhouse
