I made a breakfast ham & egg roll up for my husband to take to work and share with everyone at their monthly safety meeting and I got the cutest thank you card. It was a store bought card, yes they can be cute too (BWG) and I decided to try and duplicate the look of the card.

It took a little time to work out the details but I think it came out pretty nice.

To accomplish this I used the sketch pen feature on my Silhouette Cameo.
The images I used:
- Flower image 7864 by Silhouette
- Fancy Frames 3947 by Lori Whitlock
The flower worked well because it came apart where the stem meets the flower when the image was ungrouped. That way I could sketch the rose in whatever color I wanted remove it and put the stem in and sketch that with the green, then cut out the rectangles with the blade.
I've made a discovery I just have to share with you. I made 16 rectangles alltogether. For that I made the rectangles .75 wide by 2.5 tall, just duplicated them one next to the other until I had 16 of them and then I grouped them so they acted as one shape. I then inserted the rose, used the align tool to center it from side to side within the rectangle and with the shift key selected and grouped them, I then added the stem so that it matched the end of the rose and grouped all of them.
Now, I took the group of rectangle cut lines off the page first and then took the group of stems off the page leaving only the roses. I inserted the sketch pen for the roses, loaded the page and set the print setting to Silhouette Sketch pen and selected cut and it sketched the roses.
NOW HERE IS THE TRICK - just let the machine eject the mat to the original load position, don't fully remove it or turn off your machine. The mat does not eject all the way but will hang there. Use the undo button to put the stems back on it will put them right where they belong. Remove the roses group, change your sketch pen to the color you want, hit cut ( you don't need to hit load, the mat is already loaded) and the mat will go back in and sketch the stems right where they need to be. Once they are done, let the machine eject the mat to the original load position, use the undo button to re-position the cut lines for the rectangles, remove the stem group, change to your cutting blade, change the cut settings, hit cut and the rectangles will cut out.
I've done this several times on other projects and it works perfectly every time. The key to getting everything back in place each time is to set them up and group them to gether then move them off the page in the opposite order you will put them back on.
I hope that's not too confusing. I should probably do a pictoral tutorial.
For the white mat on the front of the card I resized the scallop rectangle to .25" bigger and put the words at the bottom. I made the text box a bit wider than the actual card because I wanted part of the words cut off. I did the same thing here as I did above. I put the card stock in and sketched the frames and the words let the machine eject to the loaded position, took out the sketch pen put in the cut blade, put the cut lines back onto the page, removed the frames and the words, set cut settings and hit cut and it sucked it back in and cut out the fronts.
Okay, let me know what you think.
