Don't hate me for saying this but Valentine's Day is coming! It's only 72 days away. Just enough time to get some home decor and gifts ready.
Okay, Okay, maybe I am rushing it a little bit LOL but I wanted to make another 3D item to enter into the Silhouette Challenge 3D so I started thinking ahead. After all, I've got Christmas all finished, so what else can I do?
So, some of you saw the fall screen I shared earlier on facebook. That was a design by Megan Hardy Designs. I didn't make any changes to that design I used it just as it was. However, I really liked the concept and immediately began thinking of making my own design.
I used 2 Windows by Alaa'K design # 8541 to make the frames. I took out the individual panes and replaced them with one rectangle window. I resized them so the finish size of each screen was approximately 7.5" tall by 4.25" wide then added the feet and a side tab for connecting them to each other using the weld feature. After covering the window on the back side with vellum I cut out some flowers, hearts and a phrase from silver foil card stock. There are literally hundreds of shapes to choose from so I won't bother listing the ones I used I am sure you can come up with your own choices.
What I like about using the silver is that the design looks great even without the battery powered tea lights behind. It's the perfect size for a desk top or book shelf or even on the table with a bouquet of flowers placed behind it.
One thing I found out quite by accident is that when this is folded flat you can place it in a #10 business envelope and mail it which is kind of nice too.
I hope you enjoy this enough to sign up for my blog. You can get it through networked blogs or directly to your email box. Look to the right and you will be able to see both options.
Thank you and enjoy! I may just have to go make one for winter now. Ohhh, snow men and snowflakes here I come!
These were both made with Real Red cardstock even though the color looks different in the second one. BWG
Oh, and in case you were wondering how I attach all those wonderful delicate designs to my projects my favorite for this is the Zig 2way glue pen by EK Success. It has a precision tip and the lighter you squeeze the smaller the dot or line of glue. It's dries quick and holds really well.
