Kate's Paper Creations

I used to have a beautiful stained glass insert in my front door but it had to be removed so it could be repaired so I have had this clear glass oval staring back at me for a while now.  I decided I wanted to do something for Christmas on the window and contemplated painting it but didn't want to take the chance of staining the wooden frame.  I also thought about vinyl cling cutouts which would have been great except I didn't have any and really didn't want to spend the money so I opted to just use paper.  The picture isn't as good as it could be but I think you can appreciate the look.  It looks great from both outside and in. 

The image I used is Holly item 4220 by Lori Whitlock.  I removed the holes from the centers of the berries and left everything else just as it was.  I also added the bow #3010 by Loni Harris.

Glue dots from Stampin' Up! attached them to the window.  I know I'll have fun removing them but it is worth it to have a lovely design on my window for the holidays.

I think I'll enter this in the Silhouette Challenge Anything Holiday too.

These little blocks are only 2" square but once they were designed they looked really beautiful.  I used at least 6 different Stampin' Up! stamp sets to decorate them.  The pieces were all cut out using my Silhouette Cameo.  It's amazing how well the two go together - my electronic cutter and Stampin' Up! stamps and materials.

I made this wreath for a friend of mine who lives in a nursing home.  There really isn't a lot of room to decorate so this works great on the wall across from her bed where she can see it when she lays down at night.

I used the sketch pens to made the words and leaves on the banner.  The leaves are just all different colors and shapes that I then embossed with the  Square Lattice embossing folder from Stampin' Up!.

I really enjoyed making and sharing this fall screen.  It too looks really cool with a few battery powered tea light behind it.

Blue, White and Silver are the colors that make me think of snow.  I have a snow journal where I chronical the snow we get each year with pictures and words.  We don't get a lot of snow around here so it is usually a big deal when we do.

Anyway, let me get to the point.  I joined a few blogs that host challenges because I like the "challenge" of creating something unique.  This week I received the challenge from .  The challenge is to create a card that is CAS "Clean & Simple"  the definition of which is :

• One main image
• Lots of open space
• Limited layers and embellishments
• Quick and easy to create

And this weeks theme is "winter".  So I came up with the following card.  I cut the oval, oval frame and sleigh with my Silhouette Cameo electronic cutter.  The sleigh image is #35070 by Rivka Williams. The background on the oval is just ink applied with sponges.  The embossing on the white card front is done with the starburst embossing folder the came with my Embosser.  The sentiment is from the stamp set Snow Day from Stampin' Up!.  Then it was just a matter of a little tape and glue.

I will be entering it in the challenge over at and also on the Silhouette Challenge Anything Holiday.

Today I made a centerpiece using two designs by Ashbee Designs.  3D Tealight Village Town House and Shops item 51291 and 3D tealight village church item 51292.  I didn't resize at all and the finished product is about 5" tall x 3" square. 

I did do a little bit of customizing.  I colored vellum with my Sky Blue marker and covered the insides of the windows with it so they look like blue glass.

Also, when I put it together I added a picket fence item 2680 by Silhouette and a brick border side walk item 15190 by SnapDragon Snippets. 

I place it all on a round mirror which really makes it look beautiful.  It will look lovely on the red runner I bought for my dining table which I'm getting ready to decorate with some fabric cutouts.  Can't wait to show you that when it's done.

Anyway, even though I didn't make a lot of changes I am going to enter this one in the Silhouette Challenge Anything Holiday too.  I do hope you will join me there.   I'd love to see what you're making for your holiday decor and gifts.
