I woke up this morning to a light frost. The cool crisp days of fall are here and I love the change in the weather. I have been decorating my home with fall decorations and this Fall Basket from the SVGCuts collection called Fall Harvest is perfect.
I made mine from supplies I had on hand. Joann Fabric recently had a sale on all of their open stock card stock and papers 10 for $2.00! Such a deal! Only .20 cents for a 12 x 12 textured cardstock makes this project even more affordable. I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator but I like the textured card stock for a lot of my 3D projects and they don't sell textured card stock any longer. Co'ordinations is the brand I used for most of this project.
As always, I combine Stampin' UP! with my Silhouette projects. For the basket I used the Hardwood stamp, Early Espresso ink pad, and a brayer to put a wood grain on both sides of the basket pieces and the inside piece of the liner.
There are 12 pieces for the basket so it took some time but it gives it a nice look. You could also use the Woodgrain embossing folder if you chose to but when it is used to emboss it tends to weaken the card stock and it also stretches the paper so the size isn't as exact which can make assembly difficult so I chose to ink my wood grain pattern on.
To keep from getting ink on everything I laid the stamp right side up on my work surface, inked it , layed the pieces on it, covered them with a piece of scrap paper and rolled over them with the brayer. I then removed them, re-inked and did the back side the same way. Putting the paper over them kept the brayer clean so that it didn't ruin the finished side while inking the reverse side.
All that's left to do is fill the baskets with whatever fall items you have. I filled one with some plastic vegetables I found at a yard sale and the other I put some silk mums in using a half foam ball to arrange them into. I'm sure you can come up with some lovely ideas. If you do I would love to see your basket when its done. Drop me a line and share what you make.
