Can you tell from the red type that I'm back to Valentine cards? To continue with the fancy fold concept I have one for you today called a "Double Slider Card". This one is soooo stinkin' cute I'm sure you're going to want to make it so read on.
I knew you would agree it is a lovely and "fun" valentine card. Now to show you how I put it together. I designed a cut file for all the pieces that can be used in the Silhouette 3 program. Read on and I'll tell you how you can get that cut file for FREE!
These are all the card stock pieces. The base card and slider mats are cut from Real Red, the mat for the front art piece from Red Foil and the remaining art pieces from Whisper White
Stamp your images onto the Whisper White art pieces. The stamp set used here is Bloomin' Love from the Stampin' Up! 2016 Occasions catalog. The ink used is Real Red. The smaller one on the left is for the front of the card. The other two are for the sliders. In your cut file the one for the front will have a hole in the top center to tie a piece of ribbon to. Attach the art pieces to the appropriate mats and set aside.
There is one more piece you need to make the slider portion work. For this I used the large cellophane bag from Stampin' Up! and cut a 1.25 piece off of the open end. Cut about 1/2" off one end removing the side seam. This cello is lightweight and flexible enough to work for the slider portion.
Put a piece of Tacky Tape on one end of the cello piece you cut. Wrap the cello around the base card where the two indents are at top and bottom with the tacky tape facing up bring the other end round and overlap it over the tacky tape and attach it leaving just a little bit of slack. This will create a cello loop that should move easily. If there is any overlap not stuck down trim it off.
To attache the top slider piece lay the base card out as shown. Lay the art piece down matching the top edges and lay a ruler down at the bottom edge and hold it in place.
Pull the art piece aside and attach a piece of Tacky Tape onto the cellophane at the edge of the ruler. Don't let it overlap onto the card you don't want the cellophane to stick to the card.
Place the top slider piece in place keeping the top edges even and centering left to right. The bottom edge of the slider will now be held in place by the Tacky Tape.
For the bottom slider piece lay the base card as shown. Place the bottom slider piece onto the base card and use the ruler to designate the edge where you will place the piece of Tacky Tape on the cellophane. Once the Tacky Tape is on place the bottom art piece slider onto the card keeping the bottom edges even and centering from left to right. The art will be facing away from you and the top edge of the piece will attach to the Tacky Tape.
With both sliders attached fold the card closed. You should be able to grasp the edge of the top slider and when you pull it will come up and the bottom slider will go down. Once you know everything works as it should. Glue the narrow edge with Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky glue. When gluing this edge be sure to not catch the edge of the slider piece in the seam.
Attach a piece of ribbon or yarn through the hole of the top slider to make it easier to pull.
Wrap the Designer paper around the finished card fastening it in the back. For this I used the Foiled Vellum with silver hearts.
Attach the front art piece
And there you have it. A lovely card and with the file to use in your Silhouette Cameo very simple to assemble indeed!
If you would like the cut file I made just like my post by clicking "like" below and then leave me a comment saying you've done so and include a link to your FB page in the comment and I'll sent the file right off to you.
Enjoy!
