Here is another fun fold card idea I found while searching around the internet. This one is called a Shadow Box Card.
Once again I will share a full tutorial for those who don't have a Silhouette Cameo to cut out all the pieces but for those who do read to the end to find out how you can get a FREE Silhouette 3 file to make this card.
All of the images can be seen full size just by clicking on the image.
These are the pieces for the card. There are two pieces 4.25 x 5.75. From one piece use the Circles Framelit that is 3.25 to cut a circle from the center of the card. In landscape orientation score both base pieces at 1/2", 1", 4.75" and 5.25"
Fold both pieces on the score lines, fold the first fold in toward the center of the card and the second fold out toward the edge of the card
This is what your folds should look like
Turn the front piece, the one with the hole cut out, over so it is resting on the folds. The back piece remains with the folds facing you
There are two pieces of Vellum one is cut 3.5"x4.125" this is the piece shown here. The other is 1.5"x3" . Using Versamark stamp the large flower image onto the larger piece of vellum centering it. Keep this piece in portrait orientation. The single flower will be stamped with versamark ink onto the smaller rectangle. Both will them be embossed with White embossing powder. TIP: Be sure to use your Embossing Buddy to rub over the surface of the vellum before you stamp the Versamark ink to keep embossing powder from sticking anywhere you don't want it. You will then color the images using blender pens. Color on the BACK or unembossed side of the vellum. TIP: if you place your vellum on a dark surface it will be easier to see where the lines are.
Couldn't resist showing you how I store my embossing powders. This is a kcup carousel and they fit perfectly in the kcup holders. I then made a dot showing the color and attached it to the lid and wrote the name of the color on the lid.
I still have the embossing trays which I use but I also wanted to share that I got these little scoops from a Amazon, they are used for science measuring and they work great for scooping the embossing powder.
I also wanted to share how I store my Blender Pens. I purchased 5 pens for each color group, labeled each end of the pen with an ink color and then they store perfectly in the standard stamp cases. One pen can be used for two colors, one at each end, and the stamp cases fit nicely on my desk top. Now with a pen for each color I don't have to clean them between uses.
After coloring your vellum piece attach it to the center of the back piece. I used Tombow Vellum adhesive and ran a strip across the top and the bottom. I didn't go down the sides because as you know the double sided tape can be seen through the vellum
The inside or back piece of the card is on the left and the front of the card is on the right.
To attach the front to the back I used Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue because it holds better than double sided tape. Put the glue onto the outermost tab on each side
Attach the front to the back. The tabs on the front piece will be facing away from you. Line up the edges. You can press the card flat and make sure all edges are even
Once the two pieces are attached let the tabs pop up and you have a shadow box effect
Stamp, color and cut out the single flower. The curve of the flower will follow the curve of the circle perfectly. I attached it using Tombow vellum adhesive. Be sure to only apply tape to the parts that will be attached.
And there you have it. Now, if you have Silhouette 3 and would like the FREE file I designed for making this card. Share this post on your facebook page and let me know you've done that by tagging Katespapercreations and I'll send it off to you.
Enjoy!
