I saw two cards that used a technique called "ghosting". I hadn't heard of that before which is hard to believe since I've been stamping and making cards since the existence of dinosaurs.
I really liked the idea so I copied the cards to share with you.
This first one uses the circles mask from Stampin' Up! The first layer is daubed on with the white craft ink. (give it some time to dry before moving on to the second layer) The second layer is three colors from left to right Blushing Bride, Pool Party and So Saffron. The effect is accomplished by just moving the mask a little to the right and down and then daubing the color over the white area.
The sentiment is from the new stamp set Happy Birthday Everyone and is embossed on vellum with white embossing powder. That wonderful banner cut at the end is accomplished with the new banner end punch that will put a perfect V in 1, 1.5 and 2 inch wide pieces of card stock.
A hint I have for you, I stuck the piece I was inking down with a bit of temporary tape to hold it in place while I was daubing. Then all I had to do was keep the mask in place.
Another style of "ghosting" is to use stamps and stamp the image first with the white craft ink, second with with a lighter color and third with a darker color. For this card I used Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake card stock and White Craft, Daffodil Delight and Cajun Craze ink pads. The stamp set is Serene Silhouettes which is perfect for this technique.
I did use the Stamp A Ma Jig to line up the images where I wanted them because my stamp set is on wood blocks. The photopolymer stamps work great for this technique because they are see through.
Enjoy!
