SVG Cuts recently released their newest kit titled Spring Blossom. I was immediately attracted to the lantern in the kit. I am always looking for 3D projects to make centerpieces for my Soroptimist club meetings and this was a perfect option for that.
I wanted basically the same look as the original kit with the cherry blossom theme. The main part of the lantern is made using Coastal Cabana card stock. The roof pieces are made using Strawberry Slush card stock that I embossed with Mosaic Madness embossing folder to give them a more "roof like" texture. The patterned paper came from a group of one sided papers called Fresh Floral Stack.
I added a branch with some cherry blossoms also an SVG Cuts file and a few butterflies made using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die and Gold Soiree' designer series paper from Stampin' Up!
For lighting I used an LED tealight that changes color from red to orange to blue to green and so on. It is brighter than a standard tealight so it works really great and the changing colors really look cool inside the lantern.
They turned out very lovely and I'm sure everyone will enjoy them. I can't wait to dress this lantern up for the holidays. The base is so universal it could very easily become creepy for halloween, festive for Christmas or whimsical for Easter. If you make something with this kit I hope you'll share with me I'd love to see what you create.
