I shared a few days ago some vinyl projects I had made and I totally forgot about this one which is really one of my favorites. I inherited a couple of wood burl lamps that I decided to use on the bed tables in our master bedroom. On the wall above the bed we have this lovely tapestry of a mountian village and I wanted to carry that theme out.
I had seen on the internet lamp shades with scenes on them and they cost a fortune and getting just the right size etc. was a nightmare so I knew I was going to have to make my own.
Here is the lamp with the shade, the light is turned off.
It looks nice, I like the wood and the shade is okay.
But
Here is the lamp with the vinyl design added and the light is turned on.
A little bit of a close up.
To accomplish this I cut the vinyl image out of black vinyl and attached it to the inside of the lampshade. This way when the light is off the design does not show but when the light is turned on the silhouette of the design shows through.
Pretty cool huh?
Let me know what you think. I love to hear from you.
