Hello to all. I've been so busy making things for my Silhouette Challenges Design Team that I've not had much time to do other projects. However, I recently received a Paper Creations magazine in the mail and there were some things in there that I have been wanting to try.
The website for the magazine is www.papercreationsmag.com and the issue I received is the Summer 2014 issue. On page 56 of that magazine is a birthday card they titled Rhinestone Birthday. I liked the look and decided to imitate it with a little variation.
Mine, like theirs, has diagonal dots in various colors. The difference lies in the fact that theirs are stamped on and mine are cut out with my Silhouette Cameo and the sentiment is added using the sketch pens.
To get color behind my dots I used Stampin' Sponges from Stampin' Up! and daubed on the various colors to the front of the card base then attached the cut out over the colors.
I created the reverse cut dot layer myself. It took a little while to get the sizes and the layout just right but once it was done I liked it. The smallest circles were a little bit tricky to punch out and I might not leave them in for the next one I make.
I thought about adding some rhinestones or even some Candy Dots but decided I liked it just the way it was.
As always, the templates I make are available to those who follow my blog. If you are already a follower just leave me a comment. If you're not a follower just go to the top of the page and click "subscribe now" and it will take you to where you can become one. Once you've joined me I will receive a notification with your email and I will send the file off to you.
The file will be a V3 Silhouette file and can be cut on either the Cameo or the Portrait.
If you like the card I hope you'll leave me a comment and let me know.
Enjoy!
