For the past several years the Soroptimist club I belong to has adopted families in need at Christmas. This year I believe we adopted 7 families. Each family has a group of our members who visit them, find out what their needs are and what some of their wants are too. After all, it's Christmas! One of the other group members came to me over the weekend and said a young girl in her group wanted a Paper Star Lantern. To be honest I'd never heard of them before but once I did an internet search I knew what they were.
I told my friend I could try to make one and to give me a couple of days to see what I could do. So, my Sunday was spent designing this in my Silhouette Cameo and then building this beautiful Paper Star Lantern. The girl requested it be blue so this one is dark blue with white vellum inserts and light blue glitter flourishes to adorn the windows.
It can be lit and I just happened to have a bag of balloon lights that work perfectly for that so I will include a few of those when I give it to the group to give to their recipient. It also looks beautiful just hanging in the room.
I hope it brings her as much joy as I had making it for her. We may never meet but it touches my heart to be able to share what I do with others.
Please, consider signing up for my blog. The links to do that are in the right hand column. And, please, share your comments I love hearing from you.
I will be entering this project in both the Silhouette Challenge "3D" and the 2 Creative Chicks "Winter/Christmas challenges. Wish me luck.
